SF Bay Area Chapter

Founded March 2016

Leaders: Brit Cava and Chloe Tseng

"After moving to the Bay Area in 2015 from the east coast and inspired by the Data Plus Women movement, I was looking for a community I could connect and grow with. I found Chloe on Twitter and reached out to see if she had any recommendations. I'm so glad that she recommended we start one instead! When we initially planned out She Talks Data, we connected on a few aspects that we felt were gaps in the existing local meetups. We purposefully limited attendance to make our community more intimate and encouraging of genuine conversations and we developed mission-driven goals to shape the content and direction of our group. It's been an amazing journey ever since and I'm continually thankful for the friendships and support that grows in our chapter and beyond!" -Brit

"It was June of 2011 when I was initially introduced to Tableau Desktop. I was a year out of college and wasn't sure how I wanted to steer my professional career. I was immediately enamored with this tool. The ease of adoption, the excitement induced at presentations, and the best part - the discovery. I hitched my wagon to this tool and quickly was immersed within the industry. I searched for women leadership to help me navigate this new world, but learned there were few women in analytics. I was thrilled when I was introduced to She Talks Data. I began to follow posts, event, and blogs from the group - even implementing may ideas within my professional life. I jumped at the chance to bring this fantastic group to my community. I hope to provide an atmosphere where women in analytics are able to learn and support one another." - Alexis
